Minutes for Unit 509 Board Meeting:

Attended: Jane Bender, Karen Weissberg, Jan Conklin, Maxine Reagh, Tony Jackson, Cathy Wagener, Mimi Armstrong. Also present: Kathy Venton and Kathy Juarez
Treasurer’s Report: Balance as of February 19, 2018 is $4,607.33 (attached). Moved to approve by Cathy Wagener and seconded by Tony Jackson. Vote accepted.
Communications: Karen Weissberg sent out an email blast regarding the upcoming March sectional and attached Mimi’s flyer. The blast went out to 8,000 people. Cecelia Zachar is doing a great job with the newsletter and Kathy Juarez is doing a great job with the website.
Sectional Dates for 2019 and 2020: After discussion by the Board, dates were proposed for both spring and fall 2019 and 2020. Jane will call ACBL to confirm the dates and Maxine will check the availability of the Odd Fellows Hall. Kathy Venton asked that people who take pictures at the sectional forward them to her.
March Sectional: Jan will take flyers to Oakmont and Karen will get someone to take them to Sonoma. Maxine reported that lunch will feature full sandwiches from Ulia’s Deli on Saturday and from Panera on Sunday. Both meals will include chips and cookies. There will be a vegetarian sandwich option each day. The price each day will be $9.00. Maxine will order 70 sandwiches for Saturday and 60 for Sunday. Jane, Tony, Karen and Maxine will be at Odd Fellows at 8:00 am on Saturday to set up. On Friday Maxine, Jane and Mimi will take items to Odd Fellows. Mimi will bring flowers. Jane will pick up beverages from Costco.
Unit 509 Expected Income/Expenditures for 2019: Maxine distributed a handout on where revenue is coming from and projected expenses. None of the expected items includes either revenue or loss from sectionals or the holiday party.
Learn Bridge In A Day: Kathy Juarez went to San Diego and received training for holding a class. She will hold a five-hour class on April 21. She passed around a sample flyer for the class. Participants will receive a free play pass for Mondays and Fridays as well as a manual. The class will be held at the Bridge Gallery. The time still needs to be determined. Jane Bender and Karen Weissberg will be table helpers. ACBL will reimburse for half the cost to put an ad in the Press Democrat.
Items for March Agenda: The awards ceremony and an update on the sectional games. Board members can email Jane with other items.
