The following chart shows the number of members in ACBL Unit 509 at the end of each month for the past eight years.
Membership was declining prior to Covid, but it appears that the shuttering of face-to-face play in response to the pandemic furthered the decline. Our Unit is not unique in this regard and the data reflects trends seen throughout the American Contract Bridge League. Weekly games at the Finley 509 Club started in May 2023 and this appears to have had a stabilizing effect on membership totals. As of December 31, 2025 Unit 509 had 220 members. Your Board is interested in any ideas or efforts to maintain and increase membership.

The mean average number of masterpoints for a Unit 509 member is 927, the median is 302. About 41% of members have achieved Life Master (or higher) rank
Members by City
Cities with less than four members are shown in the “Other” groups. The “Other Sonoma Co.” category is comprised of Cloverdale, Forestville, Graton, Guerneville, Occidental, Sea Ranch, Sonoma, and Stewarts Point. The category “Other County” includes cities in Mendocino, Lake, and Napa counties.
